gymnastics class...

Luke has been taking a gymnastics class at our community center and today the parents got to come in and observe. (Normally we have to wait out in the hall.) Luke was so proud to show off for Mommy and his baby brother ("Look at me!") He was such a good listener and followed all the coaches' instructions perfectly.

helping papaw...

Luke loves doing anything outside and so he, Auntie Beth and Papaw were cleaning up the yard this weekend. He loved picking up pinecones and flopping into a big pile of pine straw!!

mardi gras....

Luke went to his first Mardi Gras parade this weekend. It was a night parade and a little cold, but he loved it and did so well. The part I was most nervous about was the marching bands, being quite loud and very close--but he adored them! His face just lit up and he kept asking for "more bands! more music!" Of course the fire truck at the end and the police cars, motorcycles and horses were a big hit as well. We caught a lot of good things and Luke loved waving to all the revelers on the floats.waiting for the parade to start...

battleship park....

Henry and I were under the weather, so Daddy and Luke headed over the Battleship Park in the morning. Luke ran around and had a great time seeing all of the military planes, helicopters and tanks--and of course, the "big ship!" Soon, he'll be old enough to enjoy going on the ship and seeing all the WWII history--and the teeny-tiny bunk beds!

standing on a tank...

under a "huge airplane"

wow!

I want you!!
To give me cookies!

Running down the fishing pier...

Checkin' out the "ocean"--Sam did not tell him, it is really only Mobile Bay, not the ocean.
He wanted to go swimming so much--unfortunately it was about 55 degrees outside!! We'll have to come back in summertime!

Hopefully those are not "live"!!

giddy-up!

i love puzzles....and my letters...

making valentines...

at Luke's preschool, they "encouraged" you to make the valentines, so that they would get the most out of it"developmentally" and so that they would be age-appropriate (no Hannah Montana or Power Rangers, I guess!!) So Luke and I set out to make some cards for the 11 other little boys in his class. We picked out some letter stickers so that he could spell his name out on them and some fire truck and police car stickers and some Sesame Street stickers. He colored and stuck and hole punched (with a star -shaped hole punch--he loves that) and I wrote Happy Valentines Day on them. No hearts and flowers for these boys!! He had fun and I think they were the most creative and definitely the most homemade card of the bunch!!

spring time...

we were out doing some "crepe murdering"--i mean, trimming!--and Luke wanted to help, of course. He loved carrying the branches down the street for the yard waste truck and saving the birds' nest in it to take to school. But mostly he liked...

walking a tightrope....

and watering the flowers...

over and over and over again...Good thing it is hard to kill bulbs!

giddy-up, giddy-up, let's go, to the....

horsie show!! about a mile from our house is the local equestrian park. It is used for local competitions, from little kids to high school teams to grown men on huge horses! On the weekends when there is a show, we like to walk up and watch the show. Luke loves watching the horses jump over "the flowers" as he calls it, referring to the fake flowers that are at the base of the jumps. This weekend, it was a high school teams competition.

Now in deference to our KY cousins, I know that this is probably not a "real" horsie show. I am honesty not even sure what you call the kind of competition it is. But it is what we got...;)

watching the horsies with a snack....

showing us how the horses "jump" with Gigi
