taking "baby" for a walk...

We got Luke a "baby" to kind of introduce the idea of how to be gentle and how to hold a baby. He has to say good night and give hugs and kisses and then usually he is done with it. This day Luke decided that "baby" needed an airing outside in the stroller. Except for Luke picking the baby up by the face, it was very sweet.

touch-a-truck day...

Our local parks and recs department organizes Touch-A-Truck Day every year. They get together all kinds of different trucks and cars and emergency vehicles and put them in the park with the drivers and policemen and all. The kids can climb all of them and explore ambulances, school buses, UPS trucks, semi-trucks, garbage trucks, you name it. It is just really cute and kind of oriented towards a preschool-age crowd. Luke adores trucks and all that so I thought he would love it..

Clearly not. I am not sure if it was the crowds or the noise or if it was just a little overwhelming in general. There was a radio station broadcasting and all the horns and sirens honking and blaring--it was a little overstimulating. But Luke would not have anything to do with any of it. Even when Sam carried him into different trucks and tried to sit in the cabs. Nope. Luke just wanted to be held and look and not touch-a-truck at all. Oh well. Maybe next year.

Here is the actual hit of the day: the ducks in the pond across the street. Or the "nack-nacks" as Luke calls them!

Of all the chairs and benches and couches and pillows in the house, Luke loves to sit on his folded-up stroller that lives by his little table and chair. Yes he has a child-sized chair there in the background, but no, he prefers to sit on the bumpy, lumpy, hard folded-up stroller. Ah, toddlers!

my new shades..

I got Luke some sunglasses for summer, his first pair. I am not sure how much he likes to wear them outside but he likes to play with them inside. These pictures though were just too funny not to share!

my new toy...

This is Luke's new favorite messy toy. I think there is more sand on the ground and deck than in the sand box!! But he loves it--he loves the boats and the cars, especially putting them in the water. Of course the big thrill seems to be throwing the sand into the water....
