my first dentist appt...

Today was Luke's first trip to the dentist. The dentist office is so neat, I want to go there! It is all set up like a little village. The different rooms are set up as different shops--check-in is a news-stand, one treatment room is a pet shop, one is a toy store, one is a library, etc with a road on the floor leading all around the office. They have frogs and iguanas in a tank, and all kinds of fun things to see. He loved seeing Clifford the Big Red Dog's "toothbrush" (it was huge!)

Well, Luke was wary at first, as is his norm. But the staff was so friendly and obviously used to dealing with nervous kids, that he warmed up right away. He climbed up on the table like a pro and loved watching the TV on the ceiling. And his favorite thing of all, surprisingly, was wearing the kid-sized sunglasses while they had the bright lights on him...He was offered about 6 choices of toothpaste flavors and true to his father, he picked cookie dough. (Bleech!) But he loved it and stayed perfectly still the entire time. Even let Ms. Amy, the hygienist, floss his teeth, use that little hook-pick thing and do a paint-on flouride treatment. Dr Hansen came in and was wonderful with Luke. He let Luke help count his own teeth and spell out the dentist's name from his name tag (you know how Luke is about numbers and letters.) Then he checked out Luke and gave us the all-clear. No cavities!! He also checked out Henry's two little teeth. Luke was very friendly and shook the dentist's hand on the way out.

Mr Cool, laid-back...

He loved the little "water squirter" and the "sucking straw" that cleaned out his mouth--asked for more water a million times!

Learning to brush correctly on Mr Alligator....

While the parents checkout, the kids play in the gazebo with the train table--inside the little gate, so they do not run out!

My sugar-free Lollipop--yum!

snow!...

We got about an inch, if that, this past weekend and you would have thought it was a blizzard. Luke was mesmerized. He does not remember having snow last year, so he had to go out and make the most pathetic snowman ever!! He is obsessed with snow (he loves the Curious George books and shows with snow.) We should live in New Hampshire, poor kid. He keeps saying, "I love snow, Mommy. More snow coming?" Sorry kid, I think that was our once a year snow hurrah.

catching snowflakes on my tongue!

playdoh fun...

Luke was feeling a bit under the weather so we spent the morning, playdoh-ing. And I showed Luke how to cut out his handprint in playdoh. He has almost got left and right so we were writing L and R on the appropriate hands. I still need the practice myself!
