silly boy...

I don't know why these pictures tickle me so much, but they do. Luke was on the deck with Daddy and Sam came in for something and Luke stayed out by himself, not knowing we were watching him. He was talking to himself and swatting at bugs and drinking water. I thought it was hilarious!!

touch-a-truck day...

Uncle Brad came to visit this weekend and we had lots of fun. First Luke and I went to the train station to pick him up and Luke got to stay up late--yippee! Then on Saturday, he got to see Daddy and Brad load up a truck with old fence and deck pieces and take it to the dump. After that, we all went to Touch-A-Truck Day at the local park. It went much better than last year. We actually got to stay for about an hour and 15 min! Luke loved all the trucks and motorcycles and hot air balloons and things to see and do. See more pics on the website!

On a small backhoe--or "scooper" as we call it

The boys on the back of a fire truck

On a fire truck like in "Alphabet Rescue"!!

In a mini-racing car

In the cab of a trash truck--oh boy!!

Another favorite--a UPS truck!

And one of the highlights of the day--a police motorcycle! If only this was the last time he would be on one in his life....;)

And afterwards we went over to the duck pond at the park and Luke threw them some of his Cheerios--which being ducks, they ate them greedily..

helping Daddy...

We have been replacing the deck out back and Luke has been fascinated by the process, especially the destruction phase...!

Knocking down the last picket with his hammer....

A proud moment for us all...

This one is just for Mimi! A long way down...

free ice cream!

After school I picked up Luke and he ate a quick lunch in the car on the way to a "surprise treat." Today was free scoop day at Ben and Jerry's so we headed up there and when we got to the counter, Luke's eyes got bigger and bigger, looking at all the different flavors. He picked out a vanilla cone (i think he was a bit overwhelmed by all the choices and picked one he knew that he'd had before) and dove in. It was pretty big, but to his credit, he did not get any on himself. It was quite hilarious to be with him. He was so excited!

Yum!

Want to share?

That is my cone of Cherry Garcia--he wanted to switch cones!
Over and over and over again...

He really was surprised to see me start to eat the cone--when I told him that it was like a cookie, he grinned and dove in. Delicious!

building a birdy-house!

While it was raining this weekend morning, Daddy took a break from the deck rebuild to help Luke a birdhouse.

Reading the instructions carefully....

Hammer, hammer, hammer....

Putting on the roof...

Checking the instructions again....

Safety first...

Hey! Where did it go?

The finished product...well, almost. We have to get some paint for it, but....

easter...

Easter was a fun day for Luke. I think the best present he received a garbage truck, aka a "yard waste truck" (which is his favorite of our 3 waste collection trucks.) But the most fun of the day was the Easter Egg hunt: he had so much fun finding the eggs in the back yard that we re-hide them in the front yard and he found them again.

hi! ho! cherry-o!

Thanks to Gigi, Luke's new favorite game is Hi-Ho cherry-O. He is doing great taking turns and being a good sport when the dog or the bird "eat" 2 of his precious cherries.

knocking down the fence...

Our fence was in pretty bad shape, so we are replacing it this weekend. Luke has been such a big help, as you can see. He is fascinated by running into the neighbor's yard then running back into ours, as well as using his hammer to help out. There was one sad incident where a piece of fence was not secured yet and it kind of, sort of, well...fell on him--just a little bit!! But he was fine and still eager to help Daddy (and Mommy a little too!)

Need any help with that, Dad?

Take that, fence!

All I need is a clipboard....

Did I do that?

snow...again...

Today it was so cold that we had a few flurries in the morning. Luke was so excited that there was snow again. He had to run and find his weather cards (which he loves--every morning and afternoon we have to look out and find the appropriate cards) and find the "snowy" and "windy" ones. He tried to go out and play in it, but honestly the flakes were so tiny that it just looked like fat rain and it was not that exciting for him.

I cannot look away....

ponies!!...

This weekend, we were invited to the birthday party of a little boy from Luke's class. Their family lives just down the road from us so it was a short trip down the birthday party "ranch" and some pony rides! Luke had no fear at all--just walked right up to this little pony and asked, very politely, for a ride. He asked the pony's name--Honey--and rode all around the cul-de-sac, coming back for 3 rides. He had no interest in the little cart (that you can see in the background), and wanted only to ride on the saddled pony.

Of course the birthday cupcakes were also a hit!
