visiting nashville

Kisses for cousin Elizabeth!!!

We went to visit family in Nashville this past weekend and had lots of fun seeing everyone, especially Grandpa Phil. The pictures above are from brunch with our cousins Bryan, Rebecca and baby Elizabeth. Luke loves to give kisses, but I am not sure Elizabeth was thrilled with the idea! The picture below is at Grammy's house--the little chair was Sam's when he was a little boy. Just Luke sized! Check the website for more pictures.

18 month...make that 19 month check-up

We went to the doctor a little late this time around, since we changed pediatricians. But the news is all still the same: Luke is fabulous! This was a little bit harder of a visit for him since the gig is up: he kind of remembers how these things go, plus a bit of stranger anxiety. On the plus side, he is up to 26lb 9.5oz (12kg) and still in the 50th percentile. As for height, he is a amazon: 35.25 inches tall, in the 95th percentile! Almost a yardstick tall.

Everything else checked out fine; he is great physically and developmentally. He did get three shots today (ouch!) and that was kind of traumatic since he knew something was coming when we did not leave right after seeing the doc. (The nurse comes in with the shots afterwards.) Luke kept pointing at the door and trying to turn the knob to get out. After it was all said and done and we got outside, he recovered a little and just wanted to go home. Once home, he wanted to eat and then immediately after that, went to his crib and tried to get in it. I guess he needed an early nap!!

the master chef....

Whenever I bake something or if Luke just wants to see what is going on up there, he pushes a chair over from the dining room and climbs up. This morning we were making banana bread and he wanted to help so much. Problem is....

I am not sure he has absorbed the finer points of cooking yet.

going shopping...

This was so funny! This is how Luke sits in the the grocery carts when we go to the store--sideways so he can see forward and backward and sometimes with his cup of water and a bowl of cheerios if he is hungry. I guess it is close to Elmo's lunch time!

an apple a day...

Luke and I have gotten into the habit of sharing an apple for our afternoon snack, although lately he has been eating more and more of it... He loves holding the fruit and eating huge chunks of it. Though his favorite trick is offering it to me and pulling it away quickly--so funny!!

more christmasing

After Christmas, we headed down to Mobile to visit everyone and to see Uncle Brad on leave. Luke once again got wonderful toys, including musical instruments and a shopping cart full of play food: now he pushes it around, offering his wares for Sam and I to taste. The hit of the night was the box the instruments came in--who knew? Luke loved getting to help out cooking--and getting cookies whenever he asked. He once again could identify people this time, which is big since he does not see everyone that often.
See the website for lots of pictures!
