san antonio trip...

San Antonio was a lot of fun, much more to do than I was afraid of. The downtown part has this neat riverwalk area, with little boat rides and all kinds of shops and restuarants We went there and Luke loved the boat ride around the downtown! We did the zoo with Brad and Laura. Swimming at the hotel was a big hit. And we drove down to Corpus Christi (2 hr) to visit Sam's aunt and uncle and cousin. Lots of new foods and places and schedules for an almost two-yr-old, but Luke did great, overall.

The plane ride down, on our laps, was great for the first hr or so, he loved the drink cart and the little cookies they gave him. Then he got restless and we had to go to emergency plan A: Sam's laptop with Tigger and Pooh on it. Luke was amazed. TV is still a novelty to him, since we only do about 20 minutes or so a day. So the fact that it was on Daddy's computer was mind-blowing. Luke sat on my lap with earphones on and was mesmerized by about an hour of Tigger and Pooh Bear, while Sam and I dozed off. He missed naps on more than half of the days we were there and then would wake up at 6 central time, which is about an hour early for him. He fell asleep in the car alot, which he has not done in probably 6 months. Then on the flight home, there was an extra seat, so he got his car seat and he actually slept for about an hour, until he landed. Poor little guy.

But we are back to normal and gearing for a big 2 year old birthday!!

At the zoo....oh boy!!
Check me out, Panda Bear!

Snacking at the airport..look at me Daddy!!

sorry for the delay...

in postings... As most of you know, we have had some family medical emergencies recently, then Sam went to Vegas and brought us all back a most lovely stomach virus. Then during all of that, we had a ton of work done to the house. Now that is all done and we are all on the mend.

Luke is doing much better now that he is not vomiting and can have milk again! He was very fascinated by all the workman and the hammering and work. Although the first day, when they were ripping all of the siding off of the house, it was very loud and lasted all day. I was at work and Sam was home sick, but Luke could not nap--he just lay on the floor, sucking his thumb and holding his stuffed friends. Every once in a while, he would look at Sam and say "ha-ma, da-da" ("hammer, Daddy".) Poor little guy!

Not much else new. We are getting ready for our big flight to San Antonio, Texas, so we will have lots of stories and pictures next week. Keep your fingers crossed that flights are on time and go quickly!!

Here are a few pictures of the house and all the work done:

House front before...
and Luke ringing the doorbell--his favorite new thing to do...yippee.

Underneath the rotting siding on the chimney...
note the black moldy-ness on the sides. Nice.
Hard to tell, but the entire bottom was basically wood dust and rot.

What is underneath your house? Styrofoam and plywood!!

And now after the facelift....

(a housewrap and siding and new paint everywhere but the roof)

I think she looks pretty good after her week at the spa.
