beach!!....
We spent all morning out in the sun at the pool and beach and Luke had so much fun! He went from the ocean to the sand to flying a kite with Daddy back to the ocean to the sand to the pool.
After lunch, 45 minutes earlier than normal, he was asking me when it was naptime and he was sleepy. He is still out 3.5 hours later!!
I'll load lots of pictures to shutterfly when we get back--the internet connection here is not the strongest ever...

Sand time!
This Is No Place Like Home
The boys are getting into the swing of things on vacation, and enjoying getting to do some very not like home things. Today we woke up early to make it to the Blue Angels practice, so we enlisted Curious George to help clear the morning cobwebs.
TV in the morning? TV in Bed?
Tonight we ate dinner out at a local waterfront burger joint.
A hot dog and sweet potato fries for dinner. I love vacation!
The Blue Angels and the National Museum of Naval Aviation
While waking up at 7am on the first morning of vacation was not at the top of any one's list, it was well worth it. Luke was a little overwhelmed by the noise, but was very excited to see the planes flying so fast and upside down! Even better, once we got into the museum Pilot Luke was at the controls. He told us that he wants to be a pilot--not a airplane pilot because "they are too loud"--but a helicopter pilot. I did not tell him that they are pretty loud too!
So would precision formationHighway to the danger zone.
Sure they were all smiles, until they started arguing about who got to be Maverick.

this was a morning that cried out for....
Luke has a sticker chart that we have been tracking his potty training progress and this week he had no accidents and stayed dry at nap time for 3 days. So as a reward, I woke him up early on Sunday morning and we took a trip down to the Krispy Kreme. I brought him a cup of milk and let him pick out 2 doughnuts for breakfast and held him up to see his choices. The first one that caught his eye was the one with sprinkles and as I was telling him the rest of the choices (glazed--custard filled--jelly filled--cake, etc), I got to chocolate and his eyes got really big and he looked at me and said, so quietly, "Please, Mommy, can I have a chocolate one please?" Well, how could I say no?
As you can see, he inhaled the chocolate one, almost before I sat down. Then I let him try a warm glazed one--needless to say, we took the remainder of the sprinkle on home with us and I got about half of a doughnut for breakfast!

imaginative play...
Luke and Daddy sometimes go to the Home Depot or Lowe's kids' workshops, where they build different projects on Saturday mornings. This is his work apron and googles, which he is obsessed with. Somedays he is a carpenter building things, other days he is a chef, prepping gourmet food.
what? haven't you ever seen a dinosaur reading a book?
Here he is a fireman, first eating his lunch, then the fire bell rings! He jumps on his rocket/fire engine and grabs his firehose to save the day!
