petting zoo at school....

A local petting farm came up to Luke's preschool and brought several animals for the kids to checkout. Henry and I came to check it out with Luke's class and braved the cold, blustery day. Let me first say, you have not seen fun until you have seen 12 2-yr-old boys and farm animals. Hilarious! But all the boys loved the animals and all walked around, moo-ing and baa-ing and cheep-ing.

What end of a goat is this?

what luke is thankful for....

As part of Thanksgiving at school, the parents were asked to talk about being thankful and what it means. So I gave this very inspirational speech about being grateful and having things that not all little boys have and, well, it was very moving. So at the end, I asked Luke what he was thankful for....

"Ice cream" was his answer. I think I made a really impression.

off to see a show...

We took Luke downtown to the Alliance Theater to see "Goodnight, Moon." It was only one hour long and we thought he would love seeing one of his favorite books come to life in a live show. While he did enjoy it, I think the big hit was taking the train downtown to the theater and back.

Taking the escalator, just like Courdoroy Bear..

As with most things, the success with toddlers lies in preparation--lots of quiet snacks!

my patriotic duty...

Luke participated in his first electorial experience (other than the primary) today. We all stood in line at our polling place for 2.5 hours and amazingly Luke was very patient and did great (and even got a lollipop for his patience.) Thank goodness we were outside most of it, next to a small lawn area. I talked to him a lot about voting and how important it is and how lots of people don't ever get to vote in their country. And when asked, he told them he was here to "help Mommy and Daddy vote."

halloween!!

Luke had such a great time trick-or-treating! He really got it this year, especially when he realized the candy angle. Here are several pictures that tell the tale...

Carving pumpkins with Daddy before trick-or-treating...

Luke made this picture with me in the morning before Halloween. He insisted on hanging it in the front window so that Daddy (and the trick-or-treaters) could see it at the front door...
