gigi came to my school!....

Every Friday in Luke's class, parents sign up to come in and bring books to read, and it is a big surprise for the kids as to whose Mom or Dad or grandparent it will be this week. So when Gigi came to visit over her Spring Break, it was coincidentally a week I had signed for and so she got to be the Mystery Reader! Of course, being a pre-K teacher herself, she brought the good stuff. She had a puppet of the The Very Hungry Caterpillar, plus all of the foods that the caterpillar eats in the book. Each kid got to hold one of the foods (a paper version of that food with a large hole in it) and then when she got to that part, the kid got to bring up that food and let the caterpillar "eat" it! They were enthralled--as were the teachers! I think they will be stealing that idea for next year! Thanks Gigi--and Happy Birthday!

Introducing the caterpillar--Luke gets to
sit in the little rocking chair next to Gigi since it is his grandmother.

Eagerly waiting...

Bringing up their foods--by the way, yes they are all in pajamas because that day was the last day of Winter and they "put him to bed" and woke up Spring!

This is hilariously fun!

Hi Mom!

Luke "fed" him the leaf at the very end and he still can't stop laughing!

And the puppet turns partially inside out to become a chrysalis, then completely inside out to reveal a beautiful butterfly!
